Controlling rodents

November 3, 2009

Many types of rodents cause problems in our homes. Squirrels, Chipmunks and Raccoons may be a nuisance from time to time but the most troublesome and potentially harmful are rats and mice.

Norway rats and house mice are commensal rodents, that is they live in close association with humans. Rats and mice may cause harm by transmitting disease, destroying property or even biting.

House mice will eat just about anything but prefer grains and seeds. They will eagerly consume foods high in fat, protein or sugar. Once characteristic that distinguishes them from rats is their ability to survive with little to no water. They get their water from the foods they eat.

Controlling rats and mice in a building involves a combination of solutions. Exclusion, sanitation and a wise use of rodenticides are all viable solutions when you are having problems with rodents. We can do a thorough inspection of your property to determine your needs.
